One product on show is the N100, which is a media streaming device that can also show programmes from on-demand services such as the BBC iPlayer. To demonstrate the £100 player in action, Sony had it playing iPlayer programmes on the oldest TV it had, a 50-year-old CRT model which you can see in action in our picture above.

It was also demonstrating its 'premium' X50i iPod dock, a dual-lens 3D camcorder that records in the highest 1080p resolution, and another camcorder, pictured below, which has a built-in projector.

Sony also announced several new laptop and desktop models: the 24in LS21 all-in-one has 24 commands built into the touch-sensitive bezel of the screen, so it's not neccessary to use the keyboard. It will be available in June and has a Core i7 processor, 1TB hard disk, HDMI input and a TV tuner.

The F21ZE laptop is a 3D model, with one set of polarised active-shutter glasses in the box. It has a Blu-ray disc player, 8GB of memory and a 640GB hard disk. The SB1Z9E, with 500GB hard disk and Core i5 processor, is lighter than a Macbook, according to Sony, while the CA1S1E/G is available in several colours, with a glowing Vaio logo on the back panel.

Sony's new products are all on show on its stand at the Gadget Show Live 2011 in Birmingham. You'll find a complete list of our show reports on our Gadget Show Live 2011 news blog.
